Your worth is not determined by your achievements or accomplishments. You are lovable and acceptable just the way you are now.
Here are some tips to help you get off the hamster wheel of perfection:
Tip #1 Self-Talk: Change perfectionistic thinking to positive and realistic thinking and self-talk . .
Tip #2: It’s okay to make mistakes . . .
Stop magnifying your small mistakes and focus on the positives of what you are doing right. Being a mom is the hardest job there is.
Remember every successful mama started with love and made mistakes along the way. Treat yourself with love and grace and watch as these get passed on to your young kiddos and your partner.
Tip #3: Set realistic goals . . .
Are you aspiring to be better and are these goals broken down into small, doable and achievable steps? Are your goals realistic and aligned with your priorities and precious commodities of time, energy, and resources?
Remember, true self-worth comes from within, rather than what you are achieving, or what other people think.
Tip #4: Carve out more pleasure and down time . . .
Are you taking yourself too seriously and not allowing enough time for fun, relaxation, pleasure, and rest? Take at least 5-10 minutes every day to do something you enjoy. You can take longer breaks with help from your partner, family, or friends. Click here for some ideas.
I hope you enjoy breathing easier knowing you are a good enough mom. Remember, raising your babies to adulthood is a marathon not a sprint, so practice the perfection-busting tips above to keep your endurance up.
Affectionately,
Lori
